Statement: When people ask why I’m running for state representative the answer is simple: my kids. I have three children and I am concerned about their future. Beyond that, I feel a moral obligation to serve my community. I want to make Maine a place my kids can stay and not just survive but thrive. I want to make a Maine where our retired people do not need to struggle to get through the winter. We need to lower energy costs and support retirees. I want a Maine that supports workers and does not crush the middle class with high taxes. Currently, Mainers face the fourth highest tax burden in the country. I want to continue my work helping retired teachers, supporting law enforcement, enacting justice reform, supporting the fishing industry and expanding food freedom. I passed bills on all of these issues in the Legislature. Politics have become so polarized, but somehow I’ve found a way to get things done. I have been one of the most effective legislators in Augusta regardless of party, and I want to continue that work for the people of my district.
