Statement: I am a life-long resident of Maine, and in 1977, I married my wife of 45 years and settled in my home town of Greenbush. There we raised our family of three girls and a boy who have blessed us with soon to be 12 grandchildren. In 1986, I bid on and was awarded my first transportation contract with the USPS. Through hard work and God’s blessing that single truck has grown to more than 65 trucks and nearly 100 employees. In 2020, I decided it was time to invest in our next generation and their future. It was easy to tell with the restrictions being levied against small and family-owned businesses, the opportunities I took advantage of as a young man were in danger of being lost forever. I was elected to the 130th Maine Legislature where it was my honor to serve on the Joint Standing Committee on Taxation. There I opposed new income tax, fees on second homes, additional cigarette taxes and many more policies that I believe would have hurt our poorest citizens the most. I also oppose energy policies that would force Maine families to pay inflated rates for power while lining the pockets of a few investors. We have to look at policies that are truly renewable, not just in power generation but in their manufacture before use and disposal after use. Our next generation deserves truly “renewable” environmentally friendly and affordable power. Let us not be the first generation to leave our country in a much worse place than we inherited it.
