Stanicki has worked as an administrator for public and nonprofit organizations that support rural communities for nearly 20 years. She is a planner with Kennebec Valley Council of Governments, a nonprofit that serves western Waldo County with economic development and planning.

She has earned degrees in social work and sociology and did graduate studies in public policy. She previously spent several years developing partnership between Dartmouth College and Maine health care systems, designing strategies to improve quality and access in mental health care. She now serves on the board of directors of the Waterville Community Land Trust and was elected president of the board of Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition, which provides recovery housing.

Stanicki lives in Unity with her family of five.
