Statement: There are many issues I am interested in pursuing, including support for public education, improvement of our infrastructure, such as expansion of broadband, and protection of our natural resources, but I do not have a platform per se and am open to pursuing any issue that is of concern to the residents of our district. Many people tell me how they like an independent candidate who looks at an issue on its own merits — what it does for or to the people. As an unenrolled voter and now a candidate, I value my independence from any party or platform. I believe the party system has done significant harm to this country. As we move forward in this contentious political climate, I feel the only way to begin to truly heal or at least hamper the division is to look to candidates who are independent, who honestly consider both sides of an argument, and act with respect and empathy for their neighbors.
